ASL Receptive Skills Test

Author: Charlotte Enns
The ASL RST is intended for use with children ages 4 to 13. It is a measure of a child's emerging receptive knowledge of ASL, especially for children in the younger age ranges. It is an ASL adaption of the British Receptive Skills test developed by Herman, Holmes, & Woll, 1999. Normative data has been collected and is being prepared for publication. The ASL-RST was administered to a natinal sample of approximately 150 deaf 3,4, and 5 year olds as part of the VL2 Early Education Longitudinal Study, where it was found to demonstrate high reliability and concurrent validity for this very young cohort of students.
