Erin Spurgeon

Research Associate at Deaf Studies Lab
RIT

Erin was born and raised in Colorado and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. While at the UofA, Erin was involved in locally-run summer camps for several years that served deaf children and their siblings in the Tucson area. In 2006, Erin moved to Massachusetts and worked at the Beverly School for the Deaf and North Shore Autistic Resource Center as an early intervention therapist.
Erin entered RIT's Master of Science in Secondary Education for the Deaf and began a graduate assistantship for Dr. Peter Hauser at the Deaf Studies Lab at NTID. Her current research includes the interaction of language and cognition on cognitive processing of deaf individuals. She plans to apply for doctoral programs this fall and look forward to continuing her education in the field of psycholinguistics.
