Niki Spotswood

Neurolinguistics
University of California, Davis

Niki Spotswood is a graduate student in David Corina's Cognitive Neurolinguistics lab at the University of California, Davis, where she investigates how the brain understands sign language. She received her B.A. in Psychology from UC Davis, for which she conducted a study on position coding in visual area MT+. She is currently using fMRI to explore how areas of the extrastriate visual cortex respond to American Sign Language signs. Niki's other interests include how visual processing is altered in Deaf individuals and signers due to their differential sensory and language experiences. In her spare time, Niki plays with her rubik's cubes and enjoys painting and exploring other artistic media.
