Ryan Matthew Barrett is a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he works with Dr. Jenny Singleton, a VL2 initiative director (of Visual Language Acquisition). He is from a deaf family and has been mainstreamed for most of his academic life. Ryan is majoring in English but his interests are widespread, varying from Deaf Studies to International Development. He sees himself working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students despite which graduate studies program he will select.
Ryan is also one of the four selected VL2 undergraduate summer research fellows in 2009.
