Research Fellows
GU, RIT, and U of Ill

This summer, VL2 is offering a fantastic opportunity for four undergraduates by setting up a "Summer Undergraduate Research Fellows" program. This ten-week program enables students to receive extensive research training, pick up ropes from PhD students, and experience Washington DC during the summer.

The lucky students are:

Candace Myers, 25, Gallaudet University: I hope this program will benefit me in directing me towards my career in where I can be an asset to the Deaf Community.

Brittany Freel, 22, RIT: I'd like to work with Deaf kids in Elementary education. For me, this fellowship provides the opportunity to do research on ASL-English bilingualism.

Jamaal "Dean" Johnson, 20, Gallaudet University: My plans are to obtain a degree in psychology and aim for an internship in London next summer. For this program, I hope I'll master typing up complex research papers!

Ryan Barrett, 20, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagin: This is the perfect place for me to gain experience as a researcher and one of the areas I'm interested in is visual iconicity in ASL.
