StudentsKelly KimLanguage & LiteracyBoston University Kelly Kim is native to Atlanta, Georgia. He is a 1998 graduate of Gallaudet University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Communication Arts. In 2003, he received his Master's degree in Secondary Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. After Kelly received his Master's, he taught American Sign Language at high school, community college, and university levels from 2003 to 2008 in three different states: Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia. He earned his Professional certification from American Sign Language Teachers' Association October 2007. Currently, he is a doctoral student and a junior fellow at Boston University in the Language & Literacy EdD program. He is also an adjunct ASL faculty at BU.Kelly's main research interest is on the pedagogy of American Sign Language as a second language. His scholarly interest also is in Asian Deaf Studies. He works as a VL2 research assistant with Dr. Marlon Kuntze on his 5 year longitudinal and cross-sectional investigation of the development of higher order thinking skills and reading acquisition in children ages 3 to 9. In his free time, Kelly enjoys being with his husband, going out to restaurants with friends sampling international cuisines, reading, and traveling. Kelly currently resides in Boston with his husband, Bradley, and two pet dogs, Lin and Noel. |
