Anna Stansky

Graduate Research Assistant
Gallaudet University

Anna Stansky hails from Worcester, Massachusetts, and obtained her bachelors’ degree in English Literature from Stonehill College in 2006. She then worked at The Learning Center for the Deaf as a classroom assistant for a year before deciding to pursue her masters of science in speech-language pathology at Gallaudet University.

Currently, Anna works as a research assistant with Dr. Corine Bickley and Dr. Mary June Moseley, conducting research on deaf students’ written English skills as a part of a large study that looks at identifying aspects of deaf education that make for a well-rounded, quality education. She is developing a survey to professionals working in deaf schools throughout the county to inquire about the standardized test that is being used in the written English study. Anna is also assisting Dr. Corine Bickley in a lipreading study.

In addition to working with the Deaf community, Anna also has an interest in working with children with craniofacial (cleft lip and palate) disorders, with hopes of eventually becoming a part of Operation Smile.

In her free time she enjoys being with friends and family, playing field hockey, crocheting, and doing service work (especially in New Orleans).
