Cross-Modal Plasticity University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Dr. Dye is currently a Research Associate and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester. After receiving his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Southampton in 2001, he worked for a brief period at the Center for Deaf Studies in Bristol, England before moving to the United States to become a postdoc in the lab of Daphne Bavelier. In the past, Dr. Dye has studied psycholinguistic processes underlying sign language comprehension, but now his work focuses on understanding how early deafness influences the development of visual attention skills. He uses a variety of different tests to measure how deaf and hearing individuals allocate their attention across space and time, and is also interested in the effects of cochlear implantation and adventitious deafness on this aspect cross-modal plasticity.
