StaffDiane ClarkCoordinator University ProgramsGallaudet University Dr. M. Diane Clark earned her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro where she investigated visual memory systems of deaf individuals. Since that time she has been involved in research in several additional areas including dating and rape scripts, prevention of risky behaviors in girls, and women's leadership. Recent papers have been published in Sexuality and Culture as well as in Sex Roles. She is the co-principal investigator on a proposal titled, THE SIGNING SCIENCE DICTIONARY PROJECT, PHASE II (Special Education Research Grants, CFDA 84.324A, RFA Goal 2: Type B) which plans to evaluate the effectiveness of signing avatars on increasing basic science vocabulary of middle school students. After completing her degree she has had the opportunity to participate in two post doctorate fellowships. One shortly after completing her degree in 1985, in the Psychology Department at Gallaudet University and a later one in the Prevention Research Center at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She has taught at several colleges and universities including Mount Saint Mary's College and Shippensburg University. While at Shippensburg she was the founding director of their Women's Studies Minor. Dr. Clark believes in giving back to her community and has been active in many community activities including Downtown Organizations Investing Together, the Zoning Board of Adjustment and the Borough Council in Shippensburg Pennsylvania. Currently, Dr. Clark is a professor teaching Educational Psychology and statistical methods as well as being the internal evaluator for VL2.
