VL2 and PEN Announce the Educational Neuroscience Lecture Series for the Year
We are delighted to announce the creation of our new PhD in Educational Neuroscience (PEN) Lecture Series. This first year's theme is "Leaders in Educational Neuroscience." In the Fall we were fortunate to hear talks by two international scholars who are distinguished leaders in our field: Dr. Daniel Ansari, Full Professor and Canada Research Chair in Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience in the Department of Psychology and the Brain and Mind Institute at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. Dr. Ansari spoke on "Number Symbols in the Mind and Brain." We also welcomed Dr. Denise Klein, Cognitive Neuroscientist at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Assistant Professor in that Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University, who spoke on "How Language Experience Shapes the Brain." In the coming semester, we are looking forward to talks by Dr. John Gabrieli, Head of the Gabrieli Cognitive Neuroscience Lab at MIT, Dr. David Klahr, Professor in the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University, and Dr. Carol Padden, Dean of Social Sciences at the University of California, San Diego. All lectures are streamed live over the Internet. For details about upcoming events, download the attached PDF Announcement.
