project 33 -- Neural basis of working memory and executive function

NCF 7: Neural Basis of Working Memory and Executive Function: Attention versus Inhibition (Hauser):

Language and reading processes do not occur in isolation, but make extensive use of working memory and executive function. We explore differential processing for attention switching and interference resolution. These two processes are likely to be engaged as ASL-English bilinguals navigate textual material that may require active attention to textual and conceptual representation, while navigating and potentially suppressing activation that may interfere with efficient reading. We are particularly interested in examining the role of language experience in the development of attention switching and working memory.
