project 26 -- Use of Depiction analysis in the development of fMRI stimuli

LCF 6: Use of Depiction analysis in the development of fMRI stimuli (Dudis & Corina):

We will use our growing sophistication of the devices and forms of depiction in the development of a series of sentences which will be used to directly compare processing requirements for simple declarative sentences to those which employ a depictive device often referred to a "role shifting". Under these constructions, the signer switches between the role of a "speaker/narrator" (where signs are not depicting forms) to a construction under which, by some analyses, describe the signer as enacting the role of the object of action described.
