project 8 -- Study of deaf children's reading and language development

VLAS 8: Longitudinal study of deaf children's reading and language development (Qi, Allen):

Little is understood about the interplay of educational, cultural, and economic factors in the development of reading skills in the deaf. Large-scale studies of students with disabilities have not collected enough data on deaf students to yield insight on the role of important factors such as educational environnment, degree of hearing loss, and use of assistive technology. VL2 is remedying these shortcomings by focusing on this population and involving experts from multiple disciplines in studying it.
