initiative 5 -- Neurocognitive Foundations of Vision for Lang. and Comm.
This initiative seeks to understand the underlying cognitive and neural processes of visual language and visual learning and to articulate the critical interplay of cognitive processes such as working memory, attention, and theory of mind in language understanding. For example, we are studying the executive function in visually oriented learners by employing formal neuropsychological measures in individuals from a variety of communication backgrounds.
