The state-of-the-art Brain and Language Laboratory for Neuroimaging (BL2) is led by Dr. Laura-Ann Petitto, the Science Director and Co-Principal Investigator of the National Science Foundation and Gallaudet University’s Science of Learning Center, “Visual Language and Visual Learning (VL2).”
The Action & Brain Lab investigates how sign language experience impacts spatial processing, and how action-related and language-related brain systems interact with one another in the context of sign language.
EL2 conducts studies of individual differences among deaf children in their literacy development in authentic early education settings. It also serves as the nexus for providing strong infrastructure support to the research community in areas of ASL Assessment, Data Sharing, and Research Volunteer Recruitment.
Motion Light Lab is a space where creative literature meets digital technology to create new knowledge. Our projects aim to explore bilingual interfaces through visual narratives for a learning experience.
Dr. Melissa Herzig's Translation in the Science of Learning Lab, TL2, provides an important gateway between the Center's research discoveries and society's diverse learning environments, including schools, families and homes, museums, libraries, medical clinics, policymakers, and more.
